LINGOHACK

BBC Learning English wanted to develop a news programme that taught English by using key words and phrases that help people make sense of the news through authentic news stories.

Genium produced a new brand and visual identity that worked with existing BBC news graphics. The logotype is a playful use of typography which includes the use of punctuation and glyphs as graphic elements to enforce the topic of Language/Speech/Reading. Why Lingo Hack? Lingo Hack is a play on the term Life Hack, a very popular and modern term which refers to any trick, shortcut, skill, or novelty method that increases productivity and efficiency, in all walks of life. It is arguably a modern appropriation of cutting the Gordian Knot – in other words, anything that solves an everyday problem in an inspired, ingenious manner.

These BBC World news bulletins are now available to and watch and listen on Youtube and BBC website.
